The Context
The project took place in Guyana’s high-cost offshore sector, where rigs operated at ~$1M per day. Teams relied on low-tech, paper-based workflows, previous digital initiatives had bred resistance, and no shared real-time data existed across operations. Horizon56, a SaaS digital technology firm, partnered with ExxonMobil and Noble Drilling to modernize offshore rig operation
What We Did
As project lead, I oversaw the entire portfolio, digital transformation, and change management effort. We:
Designed and implemented end-to-end digital workflows across rigs and onshore teams
Connected digital tools to clear performance, safety, and efficiency objectives
Drove adoption across offshore crews and engineering teams, overcoming resistance from prior failed initiatives
Standardized procedures across rigs to ensure consistent, data-driven operations
Enabled cross-rig visibility and collaboration to accelerate learning and decision-making
A Milestone is Set
Created real-time transparency across all rigs, reducing manual updates and calls.
Delivered efficiency gains from well design to drilling
Improved financial planning with a predictable SaaS cost model
Strengthened cost control through cross-rig performance visibility and actionable insights
Enhanced operational safety and accountability by ensuring all teams worked from up-to-date procedure
